Apologies for the slightly misleading headline, but information reaching SPOnG suggests that Nintendo is finally about to spill the beans on the European DS launch early next week, according to the lovely Lisa Foster at leading trade magazine MCV.
The DS Lite launches in the US on June 11th at $129.99 and continues to fly off the shelves in its Japanese homeland, with almost 700,000 of the must-have little beggars sold in the month of April.
The DS Lite, which SPOnG cannot wait for, as it means we can finally play our DS on public transport without people sniggering at us for having a kiddie’s toy, should be hitting UK shores a few weeks after the US launch.
The smart money is on a June 23rd launch, with the beautiful iPod-a-like DS Lite to set you back around £100 or so. Roll on summer - New Super Mario on the DS Lite in the shade of the old oak tree in the park. Bliss.
Watch this space for SPOnG's full New Super Mario review early next week. Yes, we have it. We're playing it. We'll tell you all about it very soon. 2006 is indeed shaping up to be a golden year for videogaming.
