If you think you are a bit handy at Metroid Prime Hunters on DS, then you might want to get involved in Nintendo’s just-announced UK-wide tournament which is taking place at HMV stores this coming Saturday.
The press release which just dropped into our inbox tells us: “Nintendo UK and HMV invite you to step up and prove yourself the greatest bounty hunter in the galaxy (or the UK) in the Metroid Prime: Hunters – ‘Hunt Is On Tournament’ taking place at selected HMV stores in Birmingham (High St), London (Oxford St), Edinburgh (Princes St) and Manchester (Market St) from 9am - 5pm on Saturday 20th May.”
There is also a video link-up between the four location, so players can see who they are up against over Wi-Fi. The tournament kicks off at 11AM with practice until 1PM, then it's 1PM to 4PM for local heats and 4PM onwards for the final. Dammit Nintendo! SPOnG is going to have to get up early this Saturday for a change.
The overall winner bags an all-expenses paid trip to Seattle to meet the makers of the game. There’s also a load of HMV vouchers up for grabs for runners up. Perhaps even more of an incentive than winning the trip to grungy old Seattle is the chance to win the ultimate honour of being crowned “the UK’s ultimate bounty hunter” by Nintendo.
And if you haven’t played the ultimate handheld gaming joy that is Metroid on DS yet, SPOnG would advise you to go get it quick and get some practice in if you want to be in with the slightest chance of winning this Saturday.
