There aren’t many games that appeal to gamers of all ages. And of the few that do, they can probably be counted on one hand, and pretty much all of them are made by Nintendo.
The other one that jumps immediately to mind would be Michel Ancel’s Rayman series – which, whilst it possibly hasn’t done as well as it might have done outside of its French homeland – has still been one of those games which has appealed to (casual) adult gamers and their children alike. Apart from the third in the series, which Ancel had nothing to do with, and was therefore quite rubbish.
Rayman Raving Rabbids, the fourth entry in the series, is down as a Wii launch title this autumn/fall, and could well be one to keep an eye on, as it looks like it may be a return to previous form. Ancel has supposedly been working on the title since 2003. Check out these E3 trailers, by clicking on the links below, which show, amongst other things, the Wii’s nunchuck controller.

The key gameplay element in Raving Rabbids is that Rayman has to tame and control various creatures - such as sharks, eagles, rhinos, spiders and angelfish - in order to battle the ultra crazed evil rabbits. You also get to customise and disguise Rayman, so you can go punk, pop, rock or hip hop to infiltrate the insane mammal’s lair.
Ubisoft has shifted more than 16 million copies of Rayman titles to date, which makes it the company's best-selling and longest-running franchise.
