FIFA World Cup from EA Sports Still UK’s Top Game

It’s this week’s charts!

Is anybody really that bothered about this week’s charts as rendered by ChartTrack? Surely the south’s PR and Marketing darlings have already boarded the gravy train and are all over Los Angeles by now, air-kissing and toe-dipping an’ all that? Well, here we are – still – with the good, the bad, and the ugly news from the All Formats hit parade.

And the news is…well, not much change, really. That omnipresent 2006 FIFA World Cup game from EA Sports is top of the shop for a second week: ‘All’ Formats really means all formats with EA, see, which makes it more satisfying for us to let you know that Metroid Prime Hunters - for DS only - is straight in at number six, with a carefully-aimed bullet. Between the sublime and the ridiculous (we’ll let you decide which is which) the Legendary Lara hangs in at number two; Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter is stable at three thanks to last week’s PC release; The Godfather muscles its way back up to fourth spot; and the genius that is Animal Crossing: Wild World (note, one format again, folks) is at five.

The football theme continues with a drastic contrast in fortunes for Football Manager 2006 and Championship Manager 2006, with the former dropping like a seriously injured Manchester United striker from three to fifteen, and the latter providing a Walcott-shaped surprise by charging up ten places to number ten. It’s a funny old game...

Finally, and bizarrely, The Matrix: Path of Neo makes a reappearance at 22 – on the telly last week; and Toca Race Driver 3 came back in at 31, for no other apparent reason other than being a bloody good racer. Hoorah!
