Announced a month ago by Ubi Soft, one of the world's largest video game publishers, Deathrow is a fast-paced team combat sport designed and produced exclusively for the Microsoft Xbox by Swedish game developer SouthEnd Interactive.

"To reach the top in Deathrow, players will have to call upon every team-play trick, fighting skill and ounce of coolness they possess. Choosing the team that best fits their gaming style is essential - holding the ability to lead them either straight to victory or disgrace…" said Anne Blondel, Ubi Soft Entertainments European director of third-party development.

Will you chose to be the NukeHeads? Hailing from the back streets of L.A. these die-hards come from an unofficial league of Blitz formed by street gangs. This league spread to cities across the US and started to attract large crowds. When this unofficial tournament began to attract sponsorship, the official Blitz Disc Association recognised it as a financial threat to the BDA "money machine". To avoid the bad publicity which would've been associated with banning the league entirely, a single team made up its finest players was allowed to enter the Blitz Conquest.

Rough and with a good team spirit, they suffer from a lack of training structure and money that prevents them from reaching top stamina, strength and speed. As a result, they have to count on their stunning sense of placement and pass accuracy to outwit the aggressive opposing teams.

Playing at home gives them a definite advantage, since their arena features springboards to help evade pursuers while jumping and shooting over the opponents defence.

Deathrow also features

  • 13 charismatic teams each with a very distinctive back story, design and abilities.
  • More than 15 combat sports arena locations, each with their own strategic architecture and gameplay elements
  • Many scripted events between matches while playing the league, specific to your teams background.
  • Highly detailed characters, each modeled using more than 55 bones and 7000 polygons to give lifelike movement and a realistic character shape.
  • Facial animation capable of blinking, talking, expressing pain, anger, happiness and other moods
  • Full use of Xbox special effects including as bump-mapping, specular lighting and bumped reflection mapping
  • The ability for players to import their own music
