Europe’s finest Call of Duty® Players Descend on Germany for European Finals of Call of Duty Championship, presented by Xbox

Teams from across the continent set to battle it out for their share of a $1million global prize purse

London, UK – 14th March, 2013 The best Call of Duty® gamers from across Europe are heading to Cologne, Germany this weekend to battle it out in the European Finals of the global Call of Duty® Championship, presented by Xbox 360, announced earlier this year.

Hosted by the European Sports League (ESL) and Activision Publishing Inc., the European finals of Call of Duty® Championship, presented by Xbox will be taking place between the 16th – 17th March at the famous ESL Arena in Cologne.

Teams from the UK, Ireland, Portugal, Italy, Germany, Spain, France, Netherlands and Sweden will be trying to secure a coveted spot at the world finals in Los Angeles next month. Taking place April 5th – 7th in star studded Hollywood, CA, Activision and Microsoft will bring together 32 teams, 8 of those qualifying from Europe, from across the globe to compete in the head to head Call of Duty® Championship, presented by Xbox, featuring a $1 million Call of Duty®: Black Ops II tournament purse.

Over the last month more than 200 teams across Europe have competed for a spot in Cologne this week. UK teams TCM Gaming and Fariko.Dragons will be facing-off against each other, with the winner heading to Los Angeles on April 5th – 7th to take a shot at the $1million global prize purse and the right to call themselves the best Call of Duty® team in the world.

All the action will be live streamed through Twitch at cod.esl.eu from 12.30pm on Saturday 16th March so tune in to support your favourite team and catch David Vonderhaar, the Game Design Director from Treyarch, the makers of Call of Duty®: Black Ops II, coming in live from the ESL studios over the weekend.
