Atari’s massively open online racing game, Test Drive Unlimited, is scheduled for an Xbox 360 release later this summer, with a PC release later in the year. Check out these just-released pics of some of the beautiful Aston Martins from the game.

Test Drive: Unlimited is being developed by Eden Games and will be packed with over 100 different cars, 1,000+ miles of open roads and a load of online options.

The game boasts the full Aston Martin line-up including:

Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato

Introduced at the 1960 London Auto Show, this supercar is a DB4 GT chassis with an elegant 'special lightweight' two-seater body provided by the Zagato factory in Italy. The Zagato's engine produces 314 hp, a 0 to 60 mph acceleration of only 6.1 seconds and a top speed of 154 mph.

The DB4 GT Zagato has an extensive racing pedigree and was driven by such famous racers as Roy Salvadori and Jim Clarke. Now in TDU, you can add some new chapters to this car's legacy!

Aston Martin DB9 Coupe and DB9 Volante

Making a huge impact at the 2003 Frankfurt Motor Show, the unveiling of the DB9 announced the beginning of an exciting new era for Aston Martin.

With a V12 engine that produces 450 hp, a 0 to 60 mph acceleration of 4.7 seconds and a top speed of 186 mph, the DB9 is one of the torchbearers for Aston Martin in the 21st century. This amazing vehicle comes in two variations, the DB9 Coupe and the DB9 Volante.

Aston Martin V8 Vantage

First seen at the Geneva Motor Show in 2005, the V8 Vantage is powered by a V8 engine that produces 380 hp. The Vantage can go from 0 to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds, and has a top speed of 175 mph. It's an exhilarating drive on the world's most demanding race circuits, this is a car that will thrill you on the track.

Aston Martin Vanquish S

The V12 Vanquish S is a masterpiece of 21st-century technology, understated elegance and craftsmanship. This supercar gained much of its fame by being the official James Bond car in Die Another Day. The Vanquish S is powered by a V12 engine, which produces 520 hp. The Vanquish S can go from 0 to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds and has a top speed of over 200mph, making it the fastest road-going Aston Martin ever.

Atari are billing it as a M.O.O.R. - a Massively Open Online Racing game – and claim it is going to be “the ultimate online automotive gaming experience for Xbox 360 and PC gamers.” Well, that’s quite a claim, but we’ll wait and see what it’s like when we get the chance to have a hands-on in the near future.

The action in Test Drive: Unlimited takes place on the open roads of the Hawaiian island of Oahu, a ‘virtual paradise’ which makes up the game’s persistent online racing world. Players will engage in online challenges, and build communities by creating or joining exclusive members clubs to talk, trade cars, and race with other like-minded and similarly-skilled drivers. All the vehicles on offer from over 25 top manufacturers will be painstakingly rendered to reflect the real-world models.

"In bringing Test Drive: Unlimited to PC we are giving an established online audience an opportunity to take part in this remarkable online driving experience," said Stephen Baer, senior product manager at Atari, Inc.

In theory, it sounds like it has the makings of an awesome game, but, as ever, SPOnG will reserve judgement until we get to play it. In the meantime, we will just continue to dream about owning a real world Aston Martin at some unforeseen point in the future.
