Goto-san’s PlayStation 3 spec-ulation
Semi-conductors are somewhat mystical to most. They are small, they don’t do very much, and yet certain people can stick some of them together, add electricity and make video games come out. Amazing!

One person, however, with a full understanding of all things that conduct in a semi kind of way is Hiroshige Goto, Game Watch’s very own techie genius. Overnight in Japan, he released his report detailing the projected composition of Sony’s next machine, based around the international patent filings for the CELL processor and related technologies.

His CELL spec is as follows:

32 sub processors on one chip
256 processing units
Max 1024 32bit data calculation
1 Tera FLOPS power
The number of transistors is over 1B
Outer memory is "Yellowstone" DRAM by Rambus
Chip-interconnect technology will be "Redwood" by Rambus
"Emotion Engine", the core chipset of PS2, is integrated in one chip with "Graphics Synthesizer"

Erm, yes, we agree entirely.
