War in Iraq sees Nintendo’s Yamauchi miss baseball
Xen carries an interesting tale regarding Nintendo Chairman Hiroshi Yamauchi having a baseball game cancelled.

One of the most outspoken and colourful characters ever to have graced the industry, fiery Yamauchi-san, the man who single-handedly transformed Nintendo from a maker of plastic and tin toys into the electronics giant you know today, had planned to have the Seattle Mariners flown over for an exhibition baseball game. As you may already know, Yamauchi-san owns a substantial stake in the Mariners, as baseball is a massive sport throughout Japan.

Anyway, to his frustration, the event had to be cancelled due to concerns about security, scuppering months of planning work, both at Nintendo and the Mariners.
