Next Gen Xbox and Announcement for January 2012 - PS4 Shortly After
It appears that Microsoft has chosen January 2012 in Las Vegas to reveal the third generation Xbox. That's if French site Xboxygen is to be believed. According to the same site and same story, the PlayStation 4 is also due to be announced shortly after.

Yes, it's CES 2012 for the reveal, so don't go buying a tired old Xbox 360 for Xmas. Xboxygen reports, "Our source tells ... us that an announcement will be made at CES 2012. Not necessarily with a huge announcement of the first games already, but we should have some information on the new console, as some of its capabilities. CPU level, it would be a hexa-core with 2GB of DDR3, and our source also told us of a prototype dual-GPU AMD. We could not know the RAM."

And the sources don't stop there, "Apparently Sony is also on the alert for the Playstation 4 and the teams also expect an announcement not so long ago by the Japanese giant."

So, new Xbox generation and new PlayStation generation all before Easter.

Thanks to VG247.

Hmm, while I think it is cool that the next gen consoles are coming, I am still content with the current Generation. My 360 outputs gorgeous graphics and most of the triple A titles are great games that run perfectly.

So I am excited, but I'm content...

I agree, my ps3 is pretty tasty for graphics and content. i do belive without a massive technology leap then we will hit a ceiling of games graphics. especially if the new consol costs £400! sony i'm looking at you!

I wouldn't be surprised if they came out in the next year or two. With PC gaming rigs surpassing the consoles quite considerably at the moment and only going to get better it does kinda make sense.

Why don't they have consoles where you can interchange CPU's, RAM and GPU's now? They've done it with HDD's so I guess the logical step is to go down that route.

Would prolong the life on the console I'm sure!
