RPG fans worldwide cheer in unison

If you are a fan of dark, fantasy role-playing games then Atari’s forthcoming The Witcher is likely to be high on your must-get-soon list.

The Witcher , according to Atari at least, “represents the pinnacle of storytelling in role-playing games, shattering the line between good and evil with a world where moral ambiguity reigns.”

Hmmm, moral ambiguity set in the dark ages....Sounds very much like central Wakefield late on a Friday night to us.

The Witcher , the game's publisher goes on to explain, “emphasizes story and character development in a vibrant world, while incorporating tactically-deep real-time combat like no game before it.”

The player assumes the role of a white-haired 'witcher' named Geralt, a renowned monster-slayer-for-hire and master swordsman with superhuman strength and reflexes.

The Witcher is a genuinely original fantasy world drawn from literature, inspired by the writings of renowned, best-selling Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski.

"Best-selling my arse!" we hear you cry. Well, according to his UK publisher, Orion, he sells more "in his own country than Stephen King or Michael Crichton".

Have you read any Sapkowski? Tell us about his books in the Forum below...

Have a gander at the new trailer right here and see what you think.
