Kuju’s Brighton Studio Turns Into A Girl
You’ll know of Kuju’s Brighton Studio. You might not know that you know, but if you have played or heard about EyeToy: Play 3, EyeToy: Play Sports, SingStar: Rocks, SingStar:Anthems or SingStar: Legends, then these are the guys and gals behind those popular mass market PlayStation titles, which Kuju developed in conjunction with SCEE’s own London Studio.

Strange news today then, that Kuju's Brighton studio is reborn as a hip and trendy young girl called Zoë Mode (pictured). How and why? Read on.

Zoë Mode’s Studio Head, Ed Daly, elaborates, "This studio has had great success over the last three years focusing on fresh gaming experiences for new audiences. We've shipped several very successful, high quality titles and grown to 100 staff and now the time is right to rename the studio. We’ve created Zoë Mode; she is the personality that reflects our in-house philosophy of accessible, fun gaming for everyone.”

Ed Daly continues, "Zoë allows us to have some fun with the image of the studio but of course what matters most is the games we make. We have built up a great team, a really diverse crowd for a game developer, and an internal culture that reflects the fun and creative values that come through in our games. By taking control of the public face of the studio we will be able to reinforce this unique identity and specialist expertise further."

SPOnG has spoken with Zoë Mode’s people this morning and we’ll be bringing you more on her likes, dislikes and favourite pastimes sometime soon!

Although very different to the party games developed with Sony, the first title to be released under the new name will be CRUSH, recently announced by SEGA. See more about that game and learn all about the lovely Zoe at www.zoemode.com.

What do you think of this move? Is it a bold, creative and innovative step for the former Kuju Brighton gang to take? Or is it the dark work of some zany branding consultancy gone mad? Let us know in the forum.

I work at an advertising/marketing agency and this is exactly the kind of s**t i see our marketing people do on a daily basis - creating a personality for companies to help the employees/clients understand exactly what their 'about'. Where as conventionally people would rely on logos/corperate identity, now companies seem to think this is the next step up.
Basically it's a load of B******s.

All fanboys tend to be angry....
Let's call him Kev. But Kev also needs to have an online moniker (suggestions please). Kev is an IT guy in his early 20's he has all the latest technology and doesn't mind importing his BlueRay films from abroad to play on his American PS3. He is angry about the games industry being continually used as a scapegoat for a society that's constantly looking to shift the blame. Also he doesn't have a girlfriend (and that's their problem and not his).

Lol. Guess they can paint any happy face on their studio that they like. I care not, so long as the games are worth buying.

Hey, it works for McDonalds. Now all those kids are real fat and that Ronald, with his red and white clown face makes a lot more sense now and hardly ever shows his face now.

He's not laughing with you, he's laughing at you.

''Ha ha, now your fat and I've got loadsamoney, who need that Hamburgler freak, when I'm the real crook''. Lol.

And everyone knows Spong is a Nintendo fanboy.
Although they did a good job of liking Microsoft around the time they ran their ad banners.

Yes, EVERYONE knows that.

Except for the people who KNOW we are Sony fanboys.

And the ones that KNOW we are Microsoft fanboys.

Seems no one knows anything. Because, actually, we're Sega, Amiga and Apple fans. And we're not boys.
