Old Spice is not the first brand you would expect to use the medium of video games to sell its products. But it has, in its own meme-generating way - by using basketball star Dikembe Mutombo to star in an interactive advertisement that mocks the Mayan calendar's prediction of world destruction.
Called Dikembe Mutombo's 4 1/2 Weeks to Save the World, it's a browser game that uses 16-bit graphics to place the hoop-shooter in increasingly dumb situations.
There's only one episode available at the moment - a vertical shooter that sees you chucking constitutions to Gangnam Style-dancing NPCs to encourage them to vote instead of wiggling their legs. It involves a boss battle with Ohio. It's a bit mad, and it actually plays pretty well!
If you fancy a little go, head here.
