If you're a regular reader, you'll remember our story from April 2011 regarding Beyoncé Knowes and the threatened law suit by video game maker Gate Five over the singer pulling out of the game Starpower: Beyoncé. It's not threatened any more and there's $100m at stake.
A judge in the USA has finally bumped the case from pre-trial to trial with a withering statement regarding the fact that the popular all-round entertainer had lead the developer a merry dance before pulling out of the deal.
“You continue to negotiate right up until the time you pull the plug. That is not going to work with me,” Justice Charles Ramos explained in no uncertain terms to Beyoncé’s lawyers.
According to the NY Post, "Gate Five said it was scheduled to sign a deal with its financier on Dec. 6, 2010, and claimed Beyoncé knew that when she sashayed away from the agreement on Dec. 3.
The game was scuttled and the company laid off 70 employees. Ramos said Beyoncé should have given Gate Five notice that she would walk.
Beyoncé’s lawyer declined to comment."
