Summary

CD Projekt teams up once again with Namco Bandai to bring the second instalment of highly rated The Witcher role playing game with Assassins of Kings in which Geralt of Rivia, the ‘Witcher’ of the title, makes his return.

Rivia features a mature, non-linear narrative that sees him in a quest to reveal the identity of a group of assassins responsible for the assassination of rulers across the Northern Kingdoms. He must discover what connects the killers to the Witchers.

During the quest Rivia (and the gamer) will travel along the river Pontar into the borders of Temeria, Kaedwen and Aedrin, where he must do battle with dark and powerful forces to reveal the truth.

Along with the storyline – aimed at the grown-up gamer – The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings features an all new combat system that combines tactics with speed of thought and reaction.

Dialogue in the game is based on that found in Andrzej Sapkowski’s book series , which also features in the highly stylised and very stylish filmic cutscenes brough to life with a bespoke and all new game engine.

Flashbacks also loom large, with Geralt’s memories acting to link past choices with current events to provide realistic gameplay elements.

Be aware, however, that sex and eroticism are a part of the game – and far more so than in the original title.
