Do you like rock music? Do you like video games? Do you like rock music and video games? Chances are if you say yes to at least one of those questions, you're familiar with Guitar Hero, publisher Activision's genius marriage of axe-shaped controller and rock and roll music. If the likes of SingStar is a little too twee for you (or you're just tone deaf when it comes to singing) strap on thine axe and start shredding.

Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock doesn't complicate things with more coloured buttons or extra effects pedal-type add-ons. What it does give in this third iteration is a multiplayer action-inspired battle mode, gruelling boss battles, lots of unlockable content and re-vamped rock venues in which to perform. The PS3's online multiplayer game modes enable guitar-slingers all over the world to compete head-to-head in the ultimate in guitarmageddon. Extra content for those going online with Guitar Hero 3 is made available too, with the frequent appearance of 'Song Packs' made available via the respective console's networks.

Tracks to shred along to in Guitar Hero 3 include tunes from and made famous by the likes of Foghat, Mountain, Cream, The Who, Black Sabbath, The Sex Pistols, Sonic Youth, Blue Oyster Cult, Scorpions, Aerosmith, ZZ Top, Santana, Queens of the Stone Age and Slayer. There are also featured original songs from in-game end of level bosses Slash and Tom Morello. << less
