Summary

With a bit of a rebrand and some tinkering under the hood, Konami is looking to postion its football franchise as the go-to sim of the beautiful game with eFootball: PES 2020.

One of the headline additions this time out is a new form of close-control dribbling. You're able to hold a trigger to tease a defender you're facing off again, swiping the ball to one side in front of them before setting it loose and putting on a sudden burst of speed.

This comes with some top-level changes to the story-ish simulation mode, Master League. A new interactive dialogue system gives players tighter control than ever over the narrative and make the mode their own.

Elsewhere, behind the scenes changes to a the algorithms around transfers mean that they're more closely aligned with reality.

There's also a brand new mode - Matchday. It's a weekly event that has players work to further their side, with each pass and goal can contribute to overall success in the build-up to the Grand Final, which sees representatives from each side come together in a match shown by livestreamed feed.

Beyond that there are, of course, more tweaks and changes than you can comfortably list, so rest assured that this is Konami's deepest footy offering yet.
