Summary

The MotoGP series is back with another season of breakneck officially licensed content from the world of superbike racing. It's a big year for the series, with the first ever entry from the series to be built from the ground up using Unreal Engine 4.

The most obvious difference is a graphical upgrade, making it shinier and more realistic than ever. That added realism isn't just a new paintjob, though. Under the hood the physics of riding have been improved to create a better sense of weight and the AI has been upgraded. It's performing at a much higher level, and you can crank it up to give yourself the most hardcore MotoGP riding experience yet.

Of course, all the riders and official rosters from MotoGP, Moto2, Moto3 and Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup are back, as are all 19 official tracks (including the new Buriram International Circuit in Thailand). The Drone Scanning system has been used for faithful 1:1 reproductions of the whole lot, and for the first time you can see it all in specially-crafted cutscenes. Career mode also makes better use of the official licenses this time out, and while you can still customise a lot your rider, your career will be alongside a real team to keep things grounded in reality.

There have been improvements on the multiplayer side, too. Esports is back, but now the tournament is multiplatform so anyone can get involved. Meanwhile your new GP ID will track your best times and records. You can match them against other players and race their ghosts to see how you stack up. And, for those feeling a bit less competitive (or those who are so competitive that they want to study other players) spectator mode is finally here for online races!
