Summary

Yo-Kai Watch is a big deal over in Japan and, while it hasn't reached the heights of Pokemon in Europe, it's gaining ground over here too. With Yo-Kai Watch 2 Nintendo took a leaf out of Pokemon's book and released two iterations of the game - Bony Spirits and Fleshy Souls. Each one has players tackling a different set of Yo-Kai, but they're essentially the same game. With Psychic Specters, Nintendo has collected together all the content from both, along with 12 new quests, new Yo-kai to befriend, exclusive dungeons for for owners of Bony Spirits and Fleshy Souls and new locations to explore.

The premise of the game is similar to the original. Players return to Springdale, which is still haunted by mischievous Yo-Kai spirits that cause minor trouble with antics like making residents insatiably hungry or giving them a case of memory loss. Now, though, the Yo-Kai are split into factions - the Bonies and the Fleshies - with a war putting them at odds. Players, taking on the role of either Nate or Katie, will wade into the fray with the help of the butler Yo-Kai Whisper and the cat spirit Yo-Kai Jibanyan to try to cool things down.

The first game had players explore every nook and cranny of Springdale, but this time out the game world has been opened up to include the likes of the country town of Harrisville and downtown Sanfantastico. Handily, there's even a (surprisingly authentic) metro system linking them all up. To make things even more interesting, you can travel back in time to encounter Yo-Kai from the past...

Interaction with the Yo-Kai and combat haven't changed dramatically. You'll need to find the spirits you want to recruit, then either feed them or get a cute Yo-Kai on your team and hope that they want to get on board! Once it comes to a battle, you can put them to work. You'll battle with six of your Yo-Kai, and while they fight automatically you'll call the shots and swap them in and out.

Yo-Kai Watch 2 also comes with online features, such as competitive battles, minigames and live updates on criminal Yo-Kai to capture!
