Summary

While it was generally agreed that F1 2015 was a nice drive, a few fans of the series complained that it wasn't as rich in features as previous outings. Well, Codemasters seems intent on not getting caught out with that allegation again. The studio is promising the most comprehensive Formula One game to date and is throwing down with a raft of features that's almost pedantic.

The new career mode, arguably the biggest new addition to the series, illustrates this well. You start by picking a team and getting dropped into their hospitality suite where you'll get down to business. That means working on your progress both on and off the track, working with your Research and Development Engineer and Player Agent. You can't just pick the best team and assume that you're off to a good start, though - bigger teams demand better results, and if you can't deliver you'll be turfed out. You might want to start further down the grid but have a better chance at exceeding team expectations.

To take the level of competition up a notch, Codemasters have also included rivalries - first with your teammate, then with another close competitor. You won't just want to beat your opponent, you'll want to grind him into the tarmac.

Other inclusions that build on the authenticity of the Formula One experience include a playable formation lap, manually controlled starts and the return of the safety car.

There's even a new multiplayer championship that will allow you to play through a full calendar with up to 22 other human players! In other words, there's plenty here for even the most obsessive F1 fan.
