Summary

Plants vs Zombies wasn't the most likely premise for a videogame to start with, but PopCap decided to run with the idea and we got a much-loved tower defense game. But surely the company was jumping the shark with Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, a third-person shooter based on the same oddball premise?! Apparently not, because not only did the game win itself an audience, it also got a sequel.

Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 builds on its predecessor in a number of ways, but the most notable has to be the inclusion of a single-player campaign. Where the first game was multiplayer-focused, this new entry has something to offer solo players, which makes sense for a series that, for many, is a gateway to shoot-'em-ups. The mode is made up of many of the game types seen in multiplayer including garden defence, escort, find and retrieve and the like. This mode also offers a co-op mode for anyone who wants to try things out with a friend.

There's plenty for returning fans, too. Players who shot their way through the first game will be able to import characters unlocked Garden Warfare 1 into the new game. There are also new modes, including the 24-player Herbal Assault and the four-player zombie co-op mode, Graveyard Ops. There are six new character classes, too, including zombie superhero Super Brainz and Citron, a bounty hunting orange from the future. All this plus, of course, new maps including one in space and a Time Travel theme park.

In other words, there's oodles of content for both series veterans and fresh-faced newcomers, delivered with more than a bit of tongue in cheek!
