Summary

The Tales series continues to march on. What could have been relegated to the status of Japanese curiosity has really been pushed to the fore by Bandai Namco and fans looking for something a little more old school and a little more magical in their roleplaying games have responded.

The story centres on a young woman named Kohaku. She's attacked by a witch, who proceeds to shatter Kohaku's Spiria, the manifestation of her heart and soul, and scatter it right across the world. It's up to Kor Meteor, a naive boy from a small village, to gather a company and put the pieces back together. But, of course, it turns out that there's more at stake here than one girl's soul...

A condition called despir has been cast across the world, causing any number of psychic maladies in its inhabitants. To overcome these problems, players will have to journey to the hear of characters' souls.

The battle system, as ever, will be a highlight for many players, combining heavy action and strategy. This time out, a succession of foes can stun an enemy, allowing you to toss them into the air and slam them back to earth.

Tales and JRPG fans are sure to get everything they're looking for out of Tales of Hearts R.
