Summary
Botanicula is a sensory treat. It's the follow-up to indie darling Machinarium from developer Amanita Design and, while its aesthetics couldn't be further from their previous game, Botanicula still offers up rich visuals and sound.
Like Machinarium, it's a point and click adventure. While you'll certainly spend time nosing around the environment with your mouse looking for ways to interact with the environment, though the emphasis is more on exploration and narrative than it is on solving puzzles.
The player takes charge of a tiny tree creature. Along with four friends, he heads out deep down into the earth on a dangerous rescue mission to plant a seed that will provide a new home for his people. While the it hails from a different genre, the game has much in common with the likes of That Game Company's flOw, in terms of being as much about soaking up the visuals and sound as it is about traditional gameplay.
