Summary
Heroes of Ruin from Square Enix (Final Fantasy) is a new adventure game built specifically for the Nintendo 3DS.
It stars four characters of different abilities, strengths and weaknesses who must join together to find ultimate victory. Using drop-in/drop-out co-op multiplayer to join forces with other heroes or using single-player, the idea is for the player to create their own adventures in a constantly changing world. Gamers will discover dynamic environments, finding new layouts and routes each time they play.
Strange and deadly creatures mean that players must ensure that their combat and tactical skills (enhanced by collecting loot, weapons and armour) are always honed.
Not only does the game offer drop-in, drop-out co-op play - it also features a great depth of social gaming features.
Using Nintendo's StreetPass system, Heroes of Ruin players can also make use of the in-game Traders Network where players can buy and sell rare and powerful items picked up in battle.
This means that gamers can constantly update their inventory via other Heroes of Ruin players with the correct security settings that are passed in public. Also enhanceable in this way are character strengths and abilities as the gamer accesses items from other players games.
Heroes of Ruin also makes us of the SpotPass system for the Nintendo DS. It use this to reward players with rare one-off items or unique challenges through local wi-fi hotspots. There are also daily challenges and quests available. The system then challenges gamers to swap ideas and items and team-up in-game.
