Summary
Flight combat game, Top Gun: Hard Lock is a present day take on the Paramount's legendary Top Gun fly-boy movie. It comes with a brand new storyline featuring up-to-date hardware and a new team of elite naval aviators.
The game, developed alongside Paramount Digital Entertainment features high-speed, high-skills aerial dog-fighting with MiGs at speeds upwards of Mach 2. Its “Hard lock” name derives from the mode that sees players performing air combat manoeuvres that take time to learn (and then to master) before delivering graphically rich pay-offs when executed correctly.
As well as the Russian MiG fighters the title also enables gamers to pilot the legendary F-14 Tomcat fighter jet fighter as well as a range of other fighter craft. Each of these uses a range of custom weaponry. There are, in fact, 21 different planes in total in the game including seven licensed planes that are playable.
The title comes with a deep single player campaign that features 15 different and highly individual missions as well as additional single-player modes.
There are also competitive and cooperative multiplayer modes, online for up to 16 players, and offline with four players.
Of course, there is also the famous music in the form of the Top Gun anthem and Danger Zone.
