Summary

If you love your Japanese RPGs and you’ve always fantasised about living the life of an alchemist, then the Atelier series is just what you need for that little shot of hocus pocus. In Atelier Totori: The Adventurer of Arland you control the destiny of the titular witch-in-training, Totori, as she fulfils her dream to become the world’s greatest traveler.

You start your journey in the small fishing village of Alanyaon, within the Arland Republic’s southern border, and make your way to Arland to make Totori’s wish come true. But the heroine has many questions that need answering, and will face many challenges - whether she will be satisfied by the end of the quest or become enemies with the state depends entirely on how you decide to play the game.

As with every Atelier game in the series, you get the chance to synthesize hundreds of items - from ingredients to weapons and armour, explosives and everything else inbetween - all with their own unique uses and powers that can help turn the tide of battle. Speaking of battle, the traditional turn-based strategy style is present and correct, and will bring a sense of nostalgia to those who grew up playing such titles ten years ago - whilst bringing a whole new dimension of play for gamers looking for something fresh.
