The inhabitants of The Sims 3 can be intelligent, thoughtful, even resourceful. But don't you wish that sometimes they could have a little more... ambition? Simply existing is no way to live, especially if you're one of the thick Sims that thinks wandering the kitchen is an effective use of time.

This expansion pack, aptly named Ambitions, gives your virtual citizens a reason for being. They will want to explore a variety of different career paths from sculpting to investigator, and even a mad professor. Sims will try out their dream jobs by your hand – you get to control every element of a character's career path and even select how each Sim will spend his or her day.

A whole bunch of jobs are on offer in this pack, and some of the more traditional careers involve testing experimental medicine on patients as a doctor, saving other Sims' lives as a firefighter (with the bonus of smashing things up with your axe!) or convincing sources to divulge information and catch perpetrators as a detective.

Of course, this being the Sims, you can expect to see a range of unusual jobs too. Hunt down spirits as a ghost hunter, invent crazy new gadgets and products as an inventor. You'll even be able to change the look of the entire town if you make one of your Sims an architect and play with the Build and Buy mode.
