When Bizarre Creations, the power-house behind the Project Gotham Racing series, releases a new racing game, it's time for all 360 owning, driving game fans to pay attention. But unlike the PGR games, Blur is available for PC and PS3 too.

Before anyone saw the game, Blur had already created a buzz of anticipation due to a series of appropriately blurred, but beautiful screenshots that were released. In them, beautifully modelled cars fought fiercely for position in a series of beautifully lit urban driving locations. Basically, this is PRG5...

But it's PGR with a nitrous boost. Twenty cars can take to the track at a time. The tracks are what we've come to expect from Bizarre Creations, beautifully modelled and fabulously detailed. But where PGR often held you back from the environment with barriers, Blur puts you right amongst it, to use and interact with as you jostle for position.

Throw in weapons such as projectiles, energy waves that will knock opponents out of the way and EMPs that will disable enemy cars and you've got a bizarre mash-up of PGR and Mario Kart.

In on-line modes, all twenty cars can be player controlled. And the gameplay is tied to a social network, so as you race, you'll meet and befriend other players, develop rivalries, even gain fans. And players can expand the game and the community by creating and sharing new game play modes. If you're looking for a more party based experience, up to four player can compete in local multi-player mode. << less
