Activision's Guitar Hero started a gaming revolution when it first hit our screens in 2005. The intervening years have seen a host of imitators, but they have also seen a range of new and improved Guitar Hero games. As time has passed, Guitar Hero has progressed (after a little push from Rock Band) from just being an axe wielding game to being a full band game. Guitar Hero Greatest Hits aims to bring users favourite tracks from previous games up to date by giving them the very latest Guitar Hero gaming treatment, and a selection of interface enhancements to make playing the game easier and more immediate.

So Guitar Hero: Greatest Hits gathers 48 tracks that users maybe familiar with from Guitar Hero, Guitar Hero II, Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s and Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock.

All these classic tracks will benefit from Guitar Hero's improved guitar action - the game now supports hammer on and pull-off, sustained notes and three note chords, and the tracks have been reworked to take advantage of these improvements. Early Guitar Hero games used cover tracks too, but as later games began to use the original artist tracks, Guitar Hero Greatest Hits replaces cover tracks with master tracks.

The tracks in Guitar Hero Greatest Hits have been chosen with care to only represent the ones that four years of Guitar Hero gaming have shown to be the most fun... the party favourites that everyone likes to rock out to.

The game introduces a whole new set of venues for you to play the Greatest Hits tracks in, including the "Amazon Rain Forest," "Polar Ice Caps" and the "Grand Canyon."

Guitar Hero Greatest Hits supports user created songs from GHTunes, and enables players to create and publish their own songs from Guitar Hero Music Studio, but it does not, alas, support downloaded content from Guitar Hero World Tour. << less
