Summary

Monsters vs Aliens is the game of the Dreamworks 3D animated movie of the same name, starring the voices of Reese Witherspoon, Hugh Laurie, Will Arnett and Seth Rogan. The game is being published by Activision for a range of popular console and computer formats.

A game aimed at the younger audience, Monsters vs Aliens enables gamers to play through a selection of scenes from the movie, as one of the monsters of the title. As Gallaxhar's alien army invades the Earth, you and your monster friends are humankind's only hope.

Each monster has different skills and abilities: Ginormica has a pair of Jeeps attached to her feet that she can use as roller-skates, and she must jump to avoid obstacles and barge opponents out of the way. The Missing Link can bash and throw things. And B.O.B. can attach himself to walls and floors and pass through things. As you progress through the game, you can collect DNA and multipliers, which you can spend in the DNA lab to power up your characters, play bonus levels and unlock bonus content.

The result is a game that includes a wide selection of gameplay styles including arcade action, race and chase, platform and puzzle. As you would expect from a 3D cartoon comedy movie tie-in, the graphics are bright and colourful, and the dialogue is zippy and entertaining. But one of Monsters vs Aliens best features is the co-operative multi-player option that enables your friends to join in as Dr Cockroach PhD, and help you to victory.
