Summary

The Wii has changed the way we think about video games, and thanks to games like Cooking Mama, themes that were once considered off limits like Cooking are now fair game. Cake Mania: In the Mix takes a concept that has been popular on the DS and the PC and brings it to the Wii. The game is a resource and time management game based, as the title suggests, around baking cakes.

In Cake Mania: In The Mix, users play Jill - who in previous games has stood up to Mega Mart and saved her family bakery from collapse - who is now looking forward to a long and happy future of cake baking. In the Mix allows her to do exactly that, and you get to join the fun. Use your Wii remote to select cake types, handle baking chores and decorate your cake creations.

Jill jumps in to help her friends in their bakeries. So you could end up working in any one of nine all-new locations, ranging from the rainforest to the moon, You spend a year in each bakery, and each month is a level, in which you have a cash target to achieve. The secret of success is keeping your demanding customers, who range from expectant moms to stealthy ninjas, happy. Happy customers keep your coffers swelling. You can make spectacular three-tier style wedding cakes, or more simple single tier cakes - add the frosting of your choice and apply any one of 19 different decorations.

As you progress through the game, you can spend the money you earn on new equipment with which you can customize your bakery: ovens, frosters, cake display stands, and cookie ovens were all seen in previous Cake Mania games, but aquaria, tables and benches are new to the In The Mix!

If things all get a bit much for you in career mode, you can take time out to play some of the motion based mini-games, or you can enlist up to three on-line friends to give you a hand, and then send on-line greetings cards to your other friends, using WiiConnect24, showing them what you've made.
