Summary

With The Incredible Hulk getting a 2008 reboot at the movies, it wouldn't be a great big green giant of a summer blockbuster without a video game to go with it, would it? SEGA has kept the world turning and duly obliged.

The Incredible Hulk takes the movie and adds a little bulk. Not, thankfully, by irradiating it with with gamma radiation to the point where it turns green and starts smashing stuff, but by taking a big old dollop of material from the comics and stirring it in.

The Incredible Hulk takes the movie and adds a little bulk. Not, thankfully, by irradiating it with with gamma radiation to the point where it turns green and starts smashing stuff, but by taking a big old dollop of material from the comics and stirring it in.

So, it's classic adventuring with oodles of super-strength combat and plenty of leaping round the cityscape.

The developer has kept much of what made the last Hulk game – Ultimate Destruction – good fun. Hulk can charge a jump while he's doing one of his great bounds through the city, making the next leap take him even higher, for example.

As the Hulk's rage meter fills up, players can let fly with super-powered moves, such as the Earth-shaking ground slam or the ear drum-popping thunder clap. He also has one of the Green Goliath's lesser-known powers – a healing factor. If you hadn't guessed, he's not too easy to kill.

Most importantly, however, Hulk can smash. As you rampage around New York (yes, New York, this is a Marvel game after all) you'll be able to total pretty much everything in sight, including famous New York landmarks.

If you ever find yourself wanting something to break, Hulk's your boy. << less
