Summary
Phoenix Wright had a good run, but it's time for him to step back - at least for a little while. Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney bears Phoenix Wright's tag, but Phoenix himself is noticably absent in this latest instalment in the series. Phoenix Wright had a good run, but it's time for him to step back - at least for a little while. Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney bears Phoenix Wright's tag, but Phoenix himself is noticably absent in this latest instalment in the series. Replacing him is - you guessed it - a green, young lawyer going by the name of Apollo Justice.
The previous Ace Attorney games have done nothing if not prove that the DS is a viable platform for the adventure genre, and Apollo Justice continues the tradition.
As in previous titles, gameplay is broken down into two sections - investigation and the courtroom. While investigating a case, players will head off to crime scenes with the mysterious magician Trucy in tow, scouring the area for any clues and using the DS touch screen. While they're at it, players interrogate witnesses to unearth the truth.
From there, players will head to the courtroom. They'll cross-examine witnesses, yelling 'Objection!' and 'Hold it!' into the DS microphone to bring a halt to proceedings as they go. The crime scene will be recreated, with players needing to use the touch screen to point out key pieces of evidence. They'll also be able to pull up court records, check out characters' profiles and dig out more clues.
New to the series is Apollo's ability to home in on the signs that show characters are lying. Players will use the touch screen to closely examine characters' body language.
