SKATE builds up an entire city and then allows you to travel around it freely, performing tricks wherever you want in an attempt to get a little more publicity for yourself and try to climb the ranks.
Unlike other skateboarding games, you dont use button combos to pull off more difficult tricks and you cannot slowly upgrade your skaters stats. Tricks are performed using the directional sticks and the only way to improve your skater is that you, the player, become more comfortable with the use of the trick system. The harder the trick, the harder it is to pull off making some of the more complex trick combos, impossible for a new players to perform, but when you do, you get a real feeling of satisfaction.
Online play allows you to interact with the online community in many different ways.
You can try and build up your reputation by taking part in online skating competitions and prove your worth against people from all over the world to become a skating legend. You can also create videos of your character performing their tricks and send them to the online community for them to judge and rate. This finally brings the community to skateboarding and allows you to have plenty of challenges to face even after youve completed the single player mode.
