Summary

Space Invaders Evolution is the first release in a PSP-bound series of updates to classic gaming franchises from Rising Star Games. Space Invaders Evolution is also Rising Star's first step onto the PSP and takes the original Space Invaders concept into entirely new ground with its Future Mode. Here, the basic concept of Taito's iconic shooter is transposed, mutated and evolved into an entirely new game. Space Invaders Evolution combines furious shooting action with multiple viewpoints and incorporates rhythm action elements to add an unexpected edge to the gameplay.

The basic premise of repelling an invasion remains the same, only this time the battle is fought in space with the player controlling a mobile cannon moving along an orbital path. The main objective is subtly different as levels are completed by destroying an elusive mothership, rather than simply clearing the screen of enemies. The catch is that this crucially important vessel can only be harmed by executing special attacks fuelled by items harvested from destroying waves of invaders that it constantly seeds.

With an all-new 3D engine providing some great visuals, Space Invaders Evolution is a conceptual collision of old and new, providing all the thrills of the arcade legend in its original form whilst revitalising the franchise with a startlingly original diversion from the well-trodden path of logical, progressive updates. Although for purists and fans of the original, Space Invaders Evolution also features a now-standard classic mode as well as two additional multiplayer game types.
