Summary

Microsoft’s Asheron’s Call, an exclusively online role-playing game released in 1998, opened gamers' eyes to an ever-evolving world filled with characters controlled by real life humans from all over the planet. But the game must evolve with the times, and so Microsoft has released its first Asheron’s Call expansion pack, titled Dark Majesty.

The world of Asheron’s Call takes place in the land of Dereth, a truly vast playing area in which literally thousands of players can participate. While the goal of Dark Majesty remains the same – to defeat The Olthoi – there is no specific way that this has to be achieved. Dark Majesty really brings to life the meaning of the phrase ‘free-roaming’. Players are able to join others participants for a mutually beneficial game and journey to Marae Lassel, a world of infinite hours of gameplay. Here, players can explore new towns and villages, uncover some unique plot twists, battle unique monsters and participate in a great number of side quests that will aid you in your game.

Players can also form an online community, thanks to the trusty keyboard that lies before you. Whether you wish beat the game as quickly as possible and assign allies, or have a chat and arrange times and places to meet, the world of Dark Majesty is yours for the taking. Ultimately, and perhaps most importantly, Dark Majesty will never be played in the same way twice. As long as you can afford the monthly online fee of ten dollars, you can experience a lifetime’s worth of role-playing experiences.
