Namco, originally famous for its expertise in the arcade, has proved its worth in the racing, beat-em-up and shoot-em-up genres. Luckily for console owners, the company decided to port some of these arcade classics onto PlayStation, not long after its release in 1995. The success of Time Crisis proved so popular that the company has now developed a sequel that remains faithful to the original. In the Project Titan sequel, you have once again been falsely accused of a crime you didnt commit. Threatened with blackmail, you have only 48 hours to clear your name. Can you handle the pressure?
It is most advisable before playing, or even purchasing this game, that you ensure you can get hold of a Namco Guncon. Playing a shoot-em-up of this nature with an analogue controller simply ruins the fun. Choose your difficulty setting carefully, since the difference in challenge is remarkable. As a sequel through and through, Time Crisis 2 has near identical gameplay to its predecessor. Missions once again begin as timed events, and to progress through each stage you must kill enemies in each area to extend your time. Other time bonuses can be gained through lightning reactions, whereby an in-game timer measures the time taken to shoot an enemy after it appears on screen. If your time expires the game is over. Every location provides you with a defence area where you are given time to reload your gun, but try not to waste time.
Although there is not much new for this sequel, it seems that Namco has adopted the if it aint broke, dont fix it attitude, and thats not always a bad thing.
