International Superstar Soccer 64 is easily one of the best soccer games on the Nintendo 64. The console doesn’t really have many soccer titles on offer but luckily you have the choice of the most playable, enjoyable games around.

ISS64 plays really well, that's the bottom line. It is easy to get into while remaining difficult to master. The design of the N64's controller is superb for playing football games, the analogue control stick allows for various amounts of 3D movement. If you want to walk, it requires gentle control and running needs full movement of the stick.

There are six different game modes in ISS64 to choose from. Open games, International Cup, World League, P.K shootouts , Scenarios and Training. P.K shootouts are penalty challenges and scenarios give you different missions and objectives to complete. There is a lot of diverse gameplay here. ISS64 is the perfect balance between arcade playability and simulation.

There are many special touches that make this game beautiful to play. Moves like flipping the ball backwards onto your head for a diving header, or when you learn how to 360 or put after touch on the ball for a long distance curving banana shot. ISS64 has support for up to four-players and in this mode the game really comes into its own.

ISS64 is a fantastic football game and if you have passed it by, this title is so good you might want to try and find a copy.
