There is trouble between the Shogun and war is widespread. Taking on the guise of Rikimaru, Ayame and Tatsumaru, your mission is to eliminate the evil bosses that are warring against you and restore peace.

The first thing you will notice when you begin the game is that Activision have not enhanced the graphics from the original release. The game is still glitchy when the screen is revolved, but if you played Tenchu, you will know that this is not too much of a hindrance.

The game plays in exactly the same way as the original, with the emphasis on carrying out various ninja related tasks. These are all assassination based. Set both in day and night, you have to enter a building or compound, sneak past or eliminate the guards and murderize the boss. To do this you are equipped with all the usual shurikens and poisons plus some new weapons and techniques including, fire arrows and invisibility.

Activision have also included a mission editor, allowing you to build your own setting in which to carry out your stealthy activities.
