One of the first soccer titles for the Dreamcast, Sega Worldwide Soccer 2000 comes stacked to the rafters with features galore. Silicon Dreams really have come up with the goods on this one, and Trevor Brooking and his inimitable rambling provides some of the commentary. Let's face it, it's a winner before you even kick off. More of that later. Some of the options are much more detailed than other soccer games on other platforms, the four player option being a particular favourite. The perfect excuse for not blaming yourself for conceding that sloppy second goal.
The game itself requires a high level of concentration if you're up against the computer:the artificial intelligence does indeed live up to it's name. However, there are dozens of tricky moves and passes to be mastered, so prepare to stay up late. Matches really come to life in multi-player mode, when the artificial intelligence is dispensed with, and human error takes over. Along with the aforementioned Mr Brooking, you get Peter Brackley and James Richardson of Channel 4's Football Italia fame to guide you through the game.
At the end of the day, Brian, I'm convinced these boys will be there or thereabouts. << less
