Sonic and the gang are out to stop Robotnik and his legion of robotic baddies.
Once Sonic has met a character in his game, that character can be used to complete the game in a different way.
As might be expected from a Sonic game, the gameplay zips along at an astounding rate, however, look closer and you will see this is at the expense of nasty pop-up on scenery objects like bollards and fences. The main scenery components, mountains and the like, appear very nicely and have a huge draw distance, which really makes some of Sonic's huge jumps very, very pretty.
The gameplay is involving in places, but frustrating in others. Parts of the game, like the killer whale chase beloved of the magazines, seem like you could put the controller on the floor and watch it happen. The combination of the speed-up and rebound pads make moving from he optimal course extremely difficult.
An interesting idea is that the Chao creatures collected in the game can be transferred to your visual memory and raised, nurtured and guided through adventures. Also you can transfer you Chao to a friend's Dreamcast and let it socialise with the Chao creatures your friend has raised. << less
