Tomb Raider’s original release back in 1996 thrusted the world of video gaming to new levels of popularity. PlayStations could be seen pubs, clubs, and were talked about quite frequently with little embarrassment. A year later, a sequel followed, and a year after that, a third in the series made an appearance. That brings me to Tomb Raider 3.

This time, top-heavy Lara is on a mission to recover four lost artefacts from the heart of an ancient meteor. Her challenge to prevent them getting into the wrong hands is even greater than ever. Because of this, developers Core have given Lara a whole new library of weapons, including an awesome rocket launcher. Her agility has also been improved, since she now has the capability to dash, crawl, and swing across bars like a monkey. She has to travel across the globe, from Area 51 to the rooftops of London. Naturally you wouldn’t expect her walk the distance, so she can now use quad bikes and kayaks to get to her desired location.

Graphical enhancements include improved light source effects, rippling water, and reflections. With all these features rolled into one game, Tomb Raider 3 at least looks original, but players of the previous titles may feel like they are playing the same games all over again.
