I saw an art on, um, Gamespot's rumour control I think. They were going on about a advert that was "leaked" from Activision and contained the text "we said we'd release it when it's done... it's done"
They were flapping about it not having a release date and probably being a pre-prepared Activision sales document. They wrote that Activision staff wouldn't confirm or deny the authenticity of the document, finally chosing to mark the document as "possibly bogus"
Duh.
Clearly they don't have very good contacts. The advert in question formed the inside page of a wrapper on last week's industry paper MCV - the paper was published the very day they ran the article

Todd Hollenshead did give what could be considered as reasonable release dates for Europe. UK is suppose to get it the 6th, and most of the rest of Europe except maybe Russia and Poland because of localization, but for most of Europe is Friday, August 13th. So yes there are dates that will probably be right for release dates in Europe though Spong obviously didn't read the whole e-mail. Oh and by the way Todd wanted to see the whole Doom 3 going gold thing breaking records in message boards but I doubt it will really matter theres enough people who pre-ordered this game as it is.

Considering the ammount of time this was in the making, I can't wait to see how it handles the unsurmountable hype!

I hope that Activision have the good sense not to enforce minimum scores in exchange for exclusive reviews.
Of course, Doom3 might actually be a good game and not require such shady dealings to get positive coverage.
