Blu-Ray is NEVER going to happen for Microsoft.. In fact even if they developed the 360 console now instead of then, I still don't think they'd do it for PR value alone.
Besides, this stinks of a PR story itself. Microsoft has prepared for a possible increase in demand? That's just trying to say the 360 is getting even more popular and Blu-Ray isn't needed.

rubbish all of you this is of course related to the rumored 10 dvd drive 360 which is being launched along side FFXIII, pure genius!

yeah the rumored price drop (200,300 and 400) is likely with this, leading into holiday sales, which would explain why they would need more drives to meet the impending demand they're expecting.
