even if this game is multidisc, then the new HDD installation update may work well, if you have a 120GB/or even 60GB and FF is on 4-5 discs then thats 32/40gb but it woud mean only disc one would need to be in the drive for verification and thus solving disc swapping, although its no prize for 20gb or even arcade users, the option would be good.

Did Microsoft even confirm the HDD installation of games?

Also I doubt it will be like a full installation mostly like what you do with the PS3 which is a partial installation however one that makes no difference and is extremely annoying.

Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey were on 4 discs and you know what? It didn't bother me in the slightest. The gameplay was very long on each disc hitting around 10hrs on each if you just semi-rushed through it even.

Marc Whitten, followed this up after the confrence, HDD has been confirmed, with other features in the autum update such as 16x10 support for VGA and HDMI, + more to come, and it is full disc installation (which is optional) and not the annoying required to play installations. it was first seen on Major Nelson`s blog and has since been confirmed, its there to allow faster load times and to quiet the 360 during gameplay as no disc spinning will be required past the first disc validation point.

annoying or not (i agree lost oddessy wasnt tha much of a problem) i would rather have Bluray 1 disc over DVD multi disc, and depending on the outcome of the differences if any on the PS3 vs 360 Version, i will be getting the 360 one unless the PS3 has something better, and if installation works ok i might as well install them, gone are the days that a game on multi disc is a good thing. infact i remember back in amiga days you could judge the titles quality by how many discs came with it.

Have to agree here, multi-disc games are no problem for RPGs like FF. The story is linear and each disc can have the start-up and game engine code on them.

It's open world games like GTA IV and Burnout Paradise where multi-discs are a no-no. That's got to be why Microsoft are allowing full disc installations now.

yeah makes sense, if burnout paradise 2 came on 2 disc, allowing you to install both discs and have non interupted disc changing play it wouldnt hurt so much, but it would pretty much mean you need a HDD for future games should this be the plan, i suspect its why the 60GB has been intorduced, but where sthe UK version?

also what happened to Netflix UK? i thought they were coming here about a year ago, now would be perfect for the 360 deal if they could get it in the UK as well.
