Firstly this news has been up on MCV all morning...

Anyways is this going to be Microsoft's solution to backwards compatibility to sell us old Xbox games on the Xbox Live marketplace??

Actually has anyone noticed how Microsoft has gone very quiet on the BC front? I bet they are hoping everyone has now forgotten and I think they pretty much have since 360 is getting plentyful of awesome games.

If HALO 1 has online I think it will probably beat HALO 3 as the most online played games.

But for the achievemants alone I think many will get HALO 1.

If this is true then some sort of storage issue is a problem here, with Games taking upto 9GB and the Premium 360 only having 12 of usable space, i suggest MS makes these downloads free to D/L after first purchase, as even the 120GB HD is not really enough for this service, along with movies and demos and XBLA & game saves, unless MS are expecting us to purchase 3 or 4 HD`s!!

Xbox 1 games were not 9gb they were max 4gb on a 4.7gb single layer DVD.

No Xbox 360 game is 9gb either.

Yes downloading these classic Xbox games will take up a lot of space which means 1)Have to purchase additional rip off hard drives or 2)Microsoft will release a 250gb hard drive at extortionate prices.

In regards to the movies you forget they get deleted or do not work after you have watched them or started to watch them within 14days.

However yes if you have lots of classic Xbox games then space becomes an issue when you cannot download a movie or episode.

The work around is if Microsoft offer NO achievemants gamers are less likely to purchase these classics and only leaving the die hard classic fans of say a game like HALO and or Fable to buy them.

If Microsoft offer achievemants then you will find many more downloading them then complaining about space issue.

Personally unless Microsoft use a new kind of compression method I dont think Xbox 1 games would be adviseable to download given their current size.

incorrect, jade empire to name but one game that was on DVD9 and weighed in a 5.5GB i belive only a few games reached upto the full 9GB but usally about 7GB shemue 2 was another but plenty of the games from towards the end of xboxs life were around 7GB, as for xbox 360 games, plenty of games take up most of the disc and therefore are around 7 to 9 GB, in fact a few companies have mentioned how they are finding it difficult to fit the games on one disc, why would they moan if games are not using full capacity?

Had a look on the net and yeah Jade Empire was around 6gb but DVD5 and DVD9 versions??

So that means the old Xbox was also able to read dual layer dvd's? And how amazing is it then if the old Xbox games were starting to go on dual layer dvd's that Xbox 360 games also can fit on 1 dual layer dvd.

But still NO Xbox 360 games take up the whole disc, HALO 3 is around 6.7gb and Mass Effect apparently from what the developers said it does NOT take up the whole disc.

Also dual layer total capacity is around 8.7gb not 9gb as after formatting that is the total space available I believe.
