I write comics for a living. I tell people that when asked - it's generally not the sort of information you'd willingly volunteer about yourself, and, unless you’re a character in a Kevin Smith movie, it's definitely not ever going to get you laid

I thought we'd come to a point in time where you guys were seen (correctly) as part of the cultural elite. Jamie Hewlett, after all, is on a par with Damon Albarn isn't he... I bet he gets laid.

But then I had box-loads of Marvel comics when I was a wee 'un and I bought the first 500 or so 2000 A.D.s.

Will I still be soiled, when the dirt is off?

You're among your geeky bretheren here, my lad. No need to be afraid.

SponG HQ is ridiculously pretty at the moment, but give it time and I'm sure it'll dip into the sordid state of unsanitariness you've come to expect and love.

I still get the occasional comic, but it distresses me how few of the younger generation read them. Seems to be just our generation that are left.

While you're correct, I DO expect it. I don't love it. SPOnG HQ is far from acceptable today, and I will not tolerate it slipping further into chaos and squalor. In buildings of yore, I could kind of live with it because it was someone else's building. But here, I paid for those desks, for that carpet, for the decorating... for those walls even. so I expect it to be kept spick and span, in a friendly, comfortable kind of way.

Seems to be just our generation that are left.

While it gives me a frisson to be called "our generation" by you and your cool young, lithe-limbed, smoothe-skinned buddies. Reality demands that I point out that for me and Tim "our generation" is separated from "your generation" by about exactly one generation. It's not a fact that brings me joy.
