Founded in 1997 by brothers Bo and Ulf Andersson, Stockholm-based GRIN's mission was to create state of the art games using breakthrough technology.

Its first release, the award winning futuristic racer, Ballistics, proved this point being the first game ever to use pixel-shaders.

The titles the company is best known for, however, are the PC version of the hugely popular Tom Clancy titles, Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter and Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2. In 2008, a deal signed with Warners, saw the movie giant fund development of "Wanted: Weapons of Fate", a videogame based on the blockbuster movie "Wanted"

The company expanded to having offices in Gothenburg, Barcelona and a quality assurance studio in Indonesia. At it's peak GRIN employed over 250 staff, developing games for the major platforms; Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC.

However, the good times weren't to last. In mid-2009 it was evident that the company was struggling. Despite plenty of pre-launch "sizzle", sales of "Bionic Commando", developed by GRIN for Capcom, proved to be lacklustre. Rumours of major layoffs were abound.

In August 2009, founders Bo and Ulf issued a statement confirming that the had been "forced" to close its doors. The reason was laid firmly at the feet of the publishers that had delayed payments, leading to an impossible cashflow situation.
