Website:

Based in Sheffield, England, Particle Systems was a well respected video game development studio. Founded in 1995 by veterans Michael Powell and Glyn Williams, Particle Systems gained a reputation for creating cutting edge science fiction games. The first of these was I-War (Independence War outside of Europe), which was a space combat simulation. This was followed up with Independence War: Defiance and the critically acclaimed Independence War 2: Edge of Chaos.

The company was acquired by Argonaut Games in 2002 and re-branded as Argonaut Sheffield. This incarnation was short-lived, however, as just two years later Argonaut Games collapsed and entered administration, leading to the closure of Argonaut Sheffield.
