Eidos Interactive, still steeped in an increasingly messy battle for control, carry on regardless, today revealing fresh renders of original videogame wank fantasy Lara Croft.

With Core Design now sidelined, development has passed to US studio Crystal Dynamics, who wasted no time freshening up Lara’s curves. SPOnG notes that Lara still hasn’t changed her clothes since the mid-nineties. Imagine how she must smell…

Anyway, the new game, fully titled Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Legend, will see Ms Croft make something of a return to form, back in the safe hands of Toby Gard and sticking to what she does best - pootling around caves looking for treasure.

“Even before the first title launched, Lara Croft had to fight her way into the Tomb Raider franchise, since at the time most game characters were muscle-bound blokes,” said Gard. “The Lara Croft character is resilient and totally unstoppable. In Tomb Raider: Legend, we explore these core personality traits and reveal the Lara Croft gamers have been waiting to see.”

The game will be playable on the showfloor at next month’s E3 in Los Angeles, with the demo consisting of more than Lara swimming up and down in some sort of tube.

Tomb Raider: Legend promises to revive a somewhat downtrodden franchise and is without question the biggest mass-market videogame in development right now. One to watch, indeed. Expect full coverage of Lara’s emergence in the coming months.

YES! That movie shower scene replayed in computer game form, with user controlled PoV. That's the Lara gamers have been waiting to see!

I was thinking Keira Knightly, especially around the face.

It's just been announced that Kiera had to pull out of the new He-Man movie, due to contractual obligations elsewhere. I wonder who'll play Skeletor now?

I am impressed with how she looks. Thats a for sure! What I'm most intrested is game play. Call me silly, but I was fond of the old Ps one game play. I'd like to see them do that again with Prince of Persia Elements in it. Now that would rock... running on walls... jumping back wards up and down...lol! Looks good I can't wait to make her crawl! ha!

Sorry to snap this back to gaming, but what's happened to Core? The article says that they're not working on TR any more.

I guess the Core guys are Doing Other Stuff (tm)

Specifically, according to SPOnG's wonderful Core cribsheet and the softography living there, SmartBomb for PSP is about all that's going down in Derby.

I'm actually pretty worried about Crystal Dynamics "doing" Lara - Snowblind was pretty bad, IMO.

They're doing a Parkour game (called Free Running), which was for PS2, but I think they're now porting it to PSP.

Dude, you are indeed correct - I recall seeing their work on that Jump Britain thingy on telly.

I have updated our data with this morsel and duly attributed the contribution to you.

Ta chuck.

Hmmm. Perhaps we needs a Simulation: Parkour genre...

Yeah I saw that too. Crazy Monkey-Men! (That is in no way racist, just a jealous swipe at blokes with super-human awareness of physics).

Thanks for the credit, BTW.
